For our team event we visited the brewery of Haacht. It was fun coz my little sister is working at the brasserie of the brewery and after our visit we went to grab diner at my sister's place. And that was fun!

tom ka kung & pumpkin

Oh my dog!! This is delicious!! I just made a regular Tom Ka Kung soup and added pumpkin and cauliflower to have more autumn vegetables. This was sucha great idea and everybody luved this soup! So I'll make it again,.. and again,.. and again (o;

Did you know the 'tom' in tom yam and tom ka means boiled in thai?

The easiest way to have a tom ka soup is to use the Lobo tom ka paste. Add a can of coconutmilk and some chicken bouillon & p+s. Once this is boiling add the pumpkin and cauliflower and just at the end add the shrimps.

heavenly ... mud

It apears that people with oriental genes fall in luuuuuuv with oreo cookies at first sight. Here is a recipe of what I call heavenly mud. It is great with sand-cookies, cupcake, bisquit or just regular. hmmmmz yummie (o:

250 mascarponé
175 ml cream with 40% fat 8 crumbled oreo cookies whipe the cream and add mascarponé and cookies hihi

Jules B-day cake for my li'll prince

He is 3!!!! Yihaaaaa! today is Daan Miles is his B-day and I decided to make him a B-day cake from Julleke to celebrate at school. This sunday we do a red-samsam party and ow behave! it well be groovy! But I told u guys that before hihi.

This week is my little boy his 3rd birthday. I'm so excited! He is helping me a lot fixing his party. He wanted a red colored party from SamSam and an apple crumble pie with white clouds.

Pumpkin and chestnuts

This was an amazing recipe! I just invented it based on a soup of Paul Bocuse. Just stew your pumpkin in butter and add oven roasted chestnuts and stew this for a short while. Some pieces of your pumpkin should still be a little bit hard. I don't need to mention you have to add salt and pepper don't I? 

Pumpkin has a neutral character while chestnuts are yang, thus an excellent healthy autumn recipe. Pumpkins, along with carrots and whole grains are good for your stomach, pancreatic and spleen.

I really enjoyed looking for wood chestnuts with my little boy. I'd luv the autumn sun on my skin. It really makes me happy!

Snail bento

hi

This snail bento was delicious! The fish was made in the oven with coriander and coriander roots, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and fresh tomatoes.

So cute how my little boy (who always says he is a big boy) says little green balls to peas.

PS: I soooo feel like switching back to dutch hihihihhi ♥

How to hello kitty brownie

Hi,

As many people were curious about how I shaped the hello kitty, here you find the tutorial.
I used this mold which I bought a long time ago from http://www.patchshopgirl.nl for 12.95€.
I pressed sugar paste in it and placed it in the freezer for at least 5 minutes. Then I filled it up with crumbled brownie. At this phase you can add the mascarpone mix as well. Place it in the freezer again then pop it out. Paint or decorate kawaii.

Good morning all ♥

This weekend we went to the moon festival, chinese Zhongqiu in Antwerp. It was so much fun! Foto's about this festivity will follow soon.

Now about these cute hello kitty cakes... I am making some sampels for a friend I know since childhood. Did I already tell you she was a great traditional Thai dancer? Now she has 2 beautifull kids and one of them is celebrating her B-day very soon. *exciting* She's crazy about hello kitty and by coincidence, I have tons of hello kitty stuff at home (o;

These hello kitty cakes are filled with brownie. I would add some sour cream and mascarpone inside as well.

Yin Yang Food .~°3°~.

Good morning all!

The new academic year is starting and it is quite bussy at work as thousands of students arrive in Leuven. A warm welcome to all of them!

A new lesson in yin and yang food: It is recommended to eat mostly neutral food during every meal and less pronounced yin and yang food. As neutral food provides balance.

This is a list of neutral food:
Fruit: tangerines, oranges, blueberries, plums, coconuts, figs, currants, grapes, raisins, apricots, pineapple and papaya.
Vegetables: carrots, string beans, sea vegetables, potatoes, olives, celery, beets, pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, okra, shiitake mushrooms, black beans, lapwing beans, Chinese cabbage, peas, cabbage, cauliflower, black mushrooms, beetroot
Fish and Meat: beef, chicken, pork, pork liver, goose, duck, beef liver, brains, carp, sturgeon, whitefish, mackerel, herring, sardines, scallops (Saint-Jacques), oysters
Nuts, Seeds,...: Seeds, nuts, hazelnuts, rice, brown rice, pearl barley, cereals, bread, tapioca, carob, vanilla, milk, cheese, peanuts, peanut oil, almonds, cashew nuts, pecans, white suger, honey, maple syrup, nutmeg, oats, sesame, sesame oil, olive oil, coconut oil, shepherd's purse, saffron, yolk

In the meantime I'm still reading and learning a lot about yin and yang food. And allready questions pop into my head where I need to find answers. One of the questions is: When the balance of your food diet leans often to intens yang food for example, one can get chi accmulation, reduced or reversed chi. Nowadays groups of people eat too much junk food, does that means that some populations have malfunction chi?

Just think about it....

Pop Corn Fun

This recipe is typically Thai but it isn't made often in Thai cuisines. My mom luvs this! I didn't know (o; Heat some oil in a wok and add honey and pili pili and fry a bit. Then add cashew nuts and coconut flesh and stir well. We added some pop corn as well to pop it up a li'll bit.

Hello Kitty vs Adidas CupCake wrappers

Hi guys and dolls,

To launch a great weekend I created these hello kitty vs adidas cupcake wrappers.

It appears many people luv hello kitty. I see this hello kitty madness everywhere. I personally always luved pochaco and keroppi the most. They are so adorable. (o;

I'll create for the weekend BBQ (YES! the weather will be good) some chocolate drops cupcakes with mint-mascarpone frosting. covered in these sweet cupcake wrappers.

For 12 cupcakes
3 eggs
120g butter
180g suger
2 little bags of vanille suger
180g self rising flour
chocolat drops


Seperate the white and the yolk. Beat up the egg white. Then mix yolk, sugers and butter well with an electric mixer. Add the egg white and fold gently. Then add the flour and chocolat drops. Put it in the oven for about 20' on 180°C

For the frosting I think I'll just mix mascarpone with whipped cream (40%) and mint flavour, no extra suga honey!!

Marriage

My aunt married this weekend. It was such an amazing marriage!

Yin Yang Food .~°2°~.

Hi guys and dolls!

Summer holiday is over. While we were waiting and waiting for li'll bits of sun...
I couldn't long more for Thailand. So we keep on dreaming of winning the lotery while Lila Vanille is gone to South-Korea.

Here is my little boy who is growing so hard playing with his nephew in the rain. So lovely!

I did tell u about yin & yang food before, suggesting to eat according to local supplies not shop supplies. I did the exercise already and start buying belgian apples instead of my favorite jazz apples from France.

The second advice on this journey is to look at your geographical location and season.
But before I explain, you need to know yin represents cold and yang represents hot.

yin = cold & fresh
yang = hot & warm

For geographical location advice: in Belgium we live in a cold/fresh area, therefore you must eat more yang food. When you live in Thailand you must eat more yin food. And actually most of us do! yin food can be exotic fruit. So being on holiday or living in Thailand you eat more exotic fruit then here. And don't you love stew in winter when it's cold outside in Belgium? Also when season change adapt your yin & yang balance to the season you're in. Eat salads and fresh fruit (yin) in the summer (yang) and stew, cabbage (yang) in the winter (yin).

When I watched the commercial about mozzarella I thought this dish is so simple, then why al this fuzz 'bout it? So I tried it once and oh gosh, have u ever, tasted something more delicious and fresh ???

Yin Yang food introduction

I promissed u guys I'll take u on a special journey, so here it starts...

Unlike the West, for centuries the Chinese look at what food does to your body once you've eaten it.
We however, look at what's in food before we eat it and decide on that information if it is good for you or not. In general, not according to u being a unique individual.

The Chinese go one step further. They practice food therapy instead of using medicines. I however wants to balance good energy Qi in my body and live healthy. According to natures flow.

And that is what yin and yang is all about. Universal balance.
Can I seduce u just think about this? Perhaps consider going back to nature together with me?

The first thing you need to know and for me it was hard as I grew up in a society where the sky is the limit and everything is possible: but eat according to local natures supply. Not according the offer in shops.
So for this period of time this is fine: fresh potatoes, Artichoke, Eggplant, Cauliflower, Broccoli, celery, Cucumber, Lettuce, Corn, Mushrooms, Paprika, Haricot, Pumpkin, Radish, Beetroot, beans, Spinach, cabbage, Tomatoes, Carrots // Strawberries, Apricots, Apples, Berries, Grapes, Cherries, Melons, Nectarines, Pears, Peaches, Plums

Also for ecological reason, try to keep the origin of your products locally.

Hello sweet fellow bento lovers!

I am back! I enjoyed a long holiday and felt like chilling for a while. I know some of u became curious about where I was and what I was doing and that's so sweet (o;
For the next season I can promise you an adventure on global level. I will take you all with me on this journey of yin and yang and I'll share my Qi with you.

Phyllo dough & Jámon de serrano

Yummie!
This is a fresh egg from Princess Miu.
Instead of 'soldaatjes' I made phyllo dough with ham in the oven. Not the regular ham, but jámon de serrano.
I guess it was grilled for 'bout 5' - 10'.
This is my last day at work and as from tomorrow we have 3 weeks holiday!

Visit of the taartenfee

Last week I visited the taartenfee with my little boy.
She moved to a new location in Kontich and I was very curious about it. She always gives me good advise and encourages me to continue being creative with food.
Her shop is amazing! I was so happy to meet her in real life as well (o;

Driving back home my car broke down. That was Murphy! No doubt about it. We needed to say a last time goodbye to my hubby's dad that evening, but we didn't make it. We were stuck for hours! Luckely I stopped next to a kinder garden and Daan Miles had an amazing time while I was waiting for the garage to pick up my car and my sister to get us out of there.
Daan Miles couldn't care less (o;
